The 49-year-old Greenville Track Club is proud to announce a new partnership with United Community Bank as the title sponsor for the crowd favorite “United Community Bank Reedy River Run.” The 43rd edition of Greenville’s iconic 10-Kilometer (6.21 miles) is scheduled for Monday, September 6, 2021.
The event, which also includes a less competitive 5K race, was postponed from the original April 2020 date due to COVID-19. “We are extremely excited to have United Community Bank partner with the GTC for one of Greenville’s historic events,” stated race director Mike Caldwell. “United is committed to the Greenville community and recently named Greenville, SC as the bank’s corporate headquarters. We believe this is an excellent partnership to promote physical fitness and to continue to provide such an exciting event to the community of runners in our growing city.” “We are thrilled to begin a partnership between United and GTC and work together in support a shared mission of creating a healthier community through financial and physical wellbeing,” said Michelle Seaver, President of Greenville and Spartanburg Counties. “United is proud to sponsor such a beloved tradition and make a positive impact on the city of Greenville in the years to come.” The United Community Bank Reedy River Run was first conducted in 1978 to showcase the new paved paths in Cleveland Park and our Reedy River. Those paths have since become part of the nationally recognized Swamp Rabbit Trail. The races will once again start and finish on S. Main Street and actually cross the Reedy River multiple times. The 10K race will be limited to 1,000 runners this year and the 5K to 750 participants. Registration will open on May 1, 2021. There are approximately 250 and 350 remaining spots in the 10K and 5K, respectively. Details can be found at the race website: ucbireedyriverrun.com. REGISTER HERE |
