We just wanted to provide a quick update during this time of uncertainty. We have 100 days before our 43rd TD Bank Reedy River Run. As you should be aware our event was postponed from the original date of April 18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While many events have been postponed or cancelled, we have continued to plan for our event to occur on Saturday, September 5. That is Labor Day weekend and our current plans are to start the weekend with a bang.
Our primary concerns revolve around providing a safe event from all aspects. While we don't have all of the details worked out yet, we anticipate some changes to our event. The temperature may be warmer than what we anticipated for our April date, so the start time for the 10K has been moved to 7:10 am instead of 7:55 am. We will also use a new/alternate course due to the TD Essential Market occupying a portion of Main Street. The good news is that the last half of the major hill in Falls Park on Furman College Way will be eliminated. Our current plans have both the start and finish on the Main Street Bridge. The course will continue to highlight the Reedy River and crosses the river seven times. We are developing plans for the 5K, which will start approximately at 8:00 am and will have the same finish line as the 10K. While we do not know what the health policies and guidelines will be at that date regarding size of gatherings, we are planning on using multiple starting waves with Social/Physical distancing. Therefore, it will be necessary to impose size limits on the number of participants. Those numbers are still unknown, but those previously registered are secured. We will continue to update the race website @ www.tdbankreedyriverrun.com as more information becomes available. Please train smart and stay healthy. |
